A Premium Weird Circular Post on Maximizing Your Creative Inputs
This is a premium post for paying subscribers only.
I’ve written before about the idea of “creative inputs” (Rekindling the Creative Spark, Your Creativity Is a Garden). For writers, artists, photographers, and basically anyone creative, it’s really important to keep a steady stream of inspiration. Creative inputs are basically activities that stimulate your creative brain: visiting museums, listening to new music, meditating, going to a bookstore, reading a new book, hanging out with other creatives, experimenting, playing, collaborating, etc.
Creativity doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It comes from your imagination. But if you don’t feed the “plant” that is your imagination, it dries up and withers. We might call this writer’s block. It’s mental exhaustion. Burnout. Overwhelm or overload. Whatever you call it, this kind of inability to move your creative needle to full comes from, in my opinion, isolation.
So how do you un-isolate? Lately, I’ve been maximizing my creative inputs through the art of Art Maxxing. This is a simple method that can help you both generate new work and at the same time, get inspired again.
